The Ethical Silk Company
Rooted in Dublin and shaped by global hands, The Ethical Silk Company reimagines the essence of luxury through peace silk and purpose-driven design. Every creation – from award-winning pillowcases to limited-edition loungewear – is a quiet statement.
At the heart of the brand lies a unique fabri – Ahimsa silk, or ‘non-violent silk’ – produced by artisans in India using traditional methods that allow silkworms to complete their natural life cycle. This compassionate approach, combined with Fairtrade-certified tailoring and a deep respect for slow fashion, transforms silk from a symbol of excess into one of integrity and care.
Guided by a female-led team and long-standing partnerships with ethical producers, The Ethical Silk Company invites customers to experience silk differently – soft against the skin, kind to the earth, and rich with intention.
Highlights

- Female-Led & Purpose-Driven: Founded in Ireland and shaped by a team of four women, the brand is built on empathy, experience, and ethical intent.
- Award-Winning Craftsmanship: Known for silk pillowcases that combine practical luxury with gentle, skin-kind performance – praised by press and customers alike.

Planet
Production is intentionally seasonal, with silk block-printed only during dry periods to preserve its delicate integrity. This natural rhythm supports their slow fashion ethos, honouring patience, precision, and balance.
The Ethical Silk Co use AZO-free, low-impact dyes, and their production partners operate rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and filtration systems, ensuring no harmful chemicals enter the water supply. These practices reflect their commitment to responsible production, verified through UN SDG partnership and carried out with a Fairtrade tailoring unit in Jaipur.
Waste minimisation is embedded in the design process: limited print runs, careful pattern placement, and the creative reuse of offcuts all contribute to a reduced footprint.
People
Craftsmanship, dignity, and fair trade are the cornerstones of The Ethical Silk Company’s people-first philosophy.
With longstanding partnerships in South and North India, the team works closely with fair trade textile workshops, championing the 10 principles of fair trade. These partnerships are more than supply chain logistics – they are relationships built on trust, longevity, and shared values. One such partner is Mehera Shaw, an ethical enterprise that leads the tailoring process and champions transparency, safety, and fair wages.
The company’s code of conduct is grounded in the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, ensuring that every artisan works in conditions of respect, equity, and care. From the printers in Jaipur to the tailors in Delhi, each contributor is recognised as a stakeholder in the garment’s journey.
At its core, The Ethical Silk Company believes that fashion must elevate, not exploit – and that behind every stitch is a story worth honouring.
Business
Founded in Ireland by Eva Power and inspired by her mother’s silk sleep rituals, the company has since evolved under the stewardship of four women- Banke, Fritha, Margaret, and Shola – who continue to expand its reach with energy, empathy, and expertise. From young motherhood to senior leadership, the team brings a rich blend of life experience to a brand that is as human as it is refined.
With a focus on circularity and low-waste production practices, both within the company and across its supplier partnerships, The Ethical Silk Company offers a truly sustainable alternative for consumers seeking beauty with integrity.
